Based in Southington. We focus on the towns within about 20 miles of the yard — and travel further when the job calls for it.
Southington and the towns around it
Passion For Trees is based on Richmond Court in Southington, and we concentrate our work on the towns within roughly a 20-mile radius of it. That is a deliberate choice: staying close is what lets us answer a storm call immediately or within the same day.
Rich Ferreira has been in the trees 39 years. We are LINE CLEARANCE QUALIFIED arborists, and Eversource calls us out during big storms to help restore power and remove trees off the wires. We carry $1 million / $2 million aggregate insurance, workers compensation and commercial auto.
We will travel further than the towns below when a job needs us — ask.
Southington
Home base. Our yard is on Richmond Court, and Plantsville, Milldale and Marion are all part of the town we work in every week.
Cheshire
About four miles from the yard — one of the towns we work in most. Mature street canopy close to houses, driveways and service lines, much of it older than the neighbourhoods around it.
Berlin
Seven miles out, covering Kensington and East Berlin. Established streets with shade trees near the wires, and larger wooded lots toward Ragged Mountain.
Wolcott
Eight miles, and the hilliest ground on our regular run. Larger properties, long drives, and woodland running right up to the buildings — which is climbing and rigging work more often than not.
Bristol
Ten miles, including Forestville. Tight older neighbourhoods with utility lines running straight through the crowns — the work our line clearance qualification exists for.
Hamden
Twelve miles south. Steep ground below the Sleeping Giant and West Rock ridges, where a bucket truck often cannot be positioned at all and the tree has to be climbed.
Farmington
Twelve miles north, and home to some of the oldest standing trees we work on. On a mature specimen the first question is often whether cabling can save it rather than whether it can come down.
